Canberra NRL rookie signs with Warriors

Raiders rookie centre Matt Allwood has signed a three-year contract with the Warriors, and will join the Auckland-based club at the end of the NRL season.

Canberra Raiders rookie centre Matt Allwood will join the Warriors at the end of the season after signing a three-year contract.

The 21-year-old has made nine first-grade NRL appearances this year after his debut in Canberra's first-round clash against North Queensland.

Warriors coach Andrew McFadden recognised Allwood's quality from his time at Canberra as assistant coach from 2010-12.

"I saw Matt come through Canberra's system into the NYC and was impressed with him from the outset," McFadden said.

"He's quick and he's a tough kid, too. It's great to have a young player of his ability coming into the club to add to add depth and quality to our centres."
