Canberra public servants strike over pay

After strikes in NSW, Western Australia, the Northern Territory and Tasmania, public servants in Canberra will walk off the job over pay and conditions.

Public servants will walk off the job in the nation's capital in protest against pay and conditions offers.

Members of the public sector union will participate in a half-day strike on Tuesday, following similar action in NSW, Western Australia, the Northern Territory and Tasmania last week.

"Now it's time to bring their message to the nation's capital - public sector workers will fight to protect their rights, conditions and pay from this unprecedented assault by the Abbott government," union national secretary Nadine Flood said in a statement.

The action comes after about 30,000 members took part in one hour stoppages in May.
