Canberra young guns ready for Taumalolo

Raiders youngsters Hudson Young and Corey Horsburgh are welcoming the challenge of Cowboys enforcer Jason Taumalolo after taking it to Sam Burgess last week.

Sam Burgess one week, Jason Taumalolo the next.

Just another week in the NRL for Canberra's fearless young guns Hudson Young and Corey Horsburgh.

The Raiders are developing into one of the best teams in the competition thanks to performances from players few had heard of two months ago.

Young, 20, and Horsburgh, 21, are amongst that crop and took it to Burgess - one of the best forwards in the world - in a brutal contest against South Sydney last week.

The duo now want to double down against another international superstar in Taumalolo when Canberra host North Queensland on Saturday.

Young said he was looking forward to another tough test and backed the Raiders pack to contain Taumalolo.

"I've always enjoyed challenges, and coming up against better players and testing myself against world-class players," Young told AAP.

"If it comes to push and shove then it comes to that. The boys you have around you, Paps (Josh Papalii) and Elliott (Whitehead), those sort of blokes help you out on the field so it's all good.

"Jason has probably been the best forward in the comp for a little while now so coming up against him will be a great test for me and Corey to try and see where we're at.

"I can't wait. I reckon the boys here can do a good job on him."

Horsburgh described taking on Burgess as "fun" and said Canberra coach Ricky Stuart supported their mongrel as long as they stayed in control.

"I just thought it would be a bit of fun going up against the big man. I just love a challenge and I feel like I can match it with anyone," Horsburgh said.

"I enjoyed it and I think it got to him a bit. I felt like I held my own at times and I feel like I've been getting more confident each week.

"Hudson is similar to me, he loves a challenge and won't fade away from anything. As long as we stay in control, (Ricky) loves it."
