Cape York Land Council solicitors are representing three traditional owners groups, the Wik, the Lama Lama and the Umpila in this latest case.

They argue the then-Labor government had not followed proper procedures when it declared three Cape York Wild Rivers immediately following the 2009 State election.

Three rivers on Cape York, the Archer, the Stewart and Lockhart River have been declared Wild Rivers under the legislation by the previous Queensland Labor Government.

One question raised today is whether the former ALP government read all traditional owners submissions, close to 3000,  opposing the Wild Rivers.

The case is expected to last four days.
