Uber, the taxi and hire-car booking app causing regulatory headaches in NSW and Victoria, appears set for Perth.
The Google-backed company has posted several adverts for Perth-based jobs on its website, including one for a general manager.
It would be the fourth Australian city for Uber, which first launched in Sydney in 2012 and has since expanded to Melbourne and Brisbane.
The app connects users with taxis and hire-cars, though a new feature that lets regular motorists taxi passengers around for a fee has caused a stir among regulators.
The NSW government transport authority reiterated last week that all drivers must be accredited under the Passenger Transport Act, essentially ruling out the ride-sharing feature.
Under the Act, unaccredited drivers who take money in exchange for lifts can face fines of up to $110,000.
Victorian regulators are also reportedly looking into the issue.
Uber has upset regulators and established taxi and hire-car operators worldwide, who claim the services are unsafe.
