Car clocked at 200km/h in police pursuit

A man will face court after allegedly leading police on a high-speed pursuit in the NSW southern highlands.

A 34-year-old man was allegedly clocked driving 100km/h over the speed limit during a police pursuit in the NSW southern highlands will face court.

Police first spotted the white Commodore travelling more than 160km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Illawarra Highway at Moss Vale, about 4.30pm on Wednesday.

Officers pursued the car through Moss Vale, with the Commodore hitting a police vehicle and another car before it accelerated to 200km/h towards Sutton Forest.

Police called off the pursuit and the Commodore was found dumped a short time later with no sign of the driver.

The 34-year-old was arrested later as he got off a train at Goulburn.

The disqualified driver, from Granville in Sydney, has been charged with a range of speeding and other offences.

He was refused bail and will face Goulburn Local Court on Thursday.

Meanwhile, a 24-year-old man whose licence is suspended until 2036, has allegedly been caught speeding in a stolen ute on the state's north coast.

Police say they spotted the vehicle speeding about 60 kilometres north of Grafton about 6.30pm on Wednesday.

Officers stopped the black ute and discovered the driver's licence was suspended until 2036.

Investigations also revealed the ute had been reported stolen.

The 24-year-old was charged with a number of offences.

He was refused bail and will face Coffs Harbour on Thursday.
