Car hits NSW dance studio with kids inside

An 82-year-old male driver who lost control of his car has ploughed into a dance studio on the NSW south coast.

A mother with her toddler in her arms has been hit by an out-of-control car that slammed into a dance studio in Wollongong.

A number of young children were in the Wollongong studio for a mothers' morning group on Tuesday when an 82-year-old driver ploughed his Toyota Camry through it.

Emergency crews were called to the Dancespace383 studio on Glebe Street just after 11am, police said.

The male driver reportedly smashed into the front glass wall before the car became wedged in the back brick wall of the studio.

The 30-year-old mother suffered a broken leg. Both the mother and her baby were taken to Wollongong Hospital in a serious condition.

Another mother, aged 42, and a two-year-old child received minor injuries.

All the other children at the studio were uninjured.

An elderly 82-year-old driver was trapped for a short time before emergency crews released him.

The female passenger was uninjured.
