Car runs down racing cyclists in Belgium

Nineteen cyclists taking part in a race have been injured in Belgium after a car ran into them as the driver turned out on to the road they were on.

A driver in Belgium has injured 19 participants in a cycling race while making a turn.

The woman was driving on Sunday in the town of Colfontaine in Wallonia when she turned on to a road where the race participants were cycling and ran into them, Belga news agency reports, citing eyewitnesses.

The incident was considered an accident without any intention behind it.

"This accident happened purely by chance," said Colfontaine mayor Luciano D'Antonio.
