A station wagon has been seized by authorities investigating the disappearance of three-year-old William Tyrrell.

The white toyota was taken last Wednesday from a home at Wauchope, which is about 25km north of Kendall, the small NSW mid north coast town where William was playing in his grandmother's front yard before vanishing last September.

"The vehicle is undergoing forensic examination as part of the investigation into missing toddler William Tyrrell," a police spokesman told AAP on Saturday morning.

Police wouldn't confirm reports that the car was seized from the home of a convicted pedophile and person of interest in the investigation.
