Carbera Bello sinks albatross at Players

The Spaniard was two-under-par for the tournament when he stood on the 16th fairway and smacked an eight iron from 181 yards. The ball took a big kick forward off the bank of a bunker and veered straight toward the flagstick before disappearing into the hole.

“Obviously pretty spectacular,” said Cabrera Bello of his career-first albatross. “I saw it rolling towards the hole – you never expect them to hit or go in or anything.

"I saw it bump with the flag and I didn’t know what happened. Then I saw the crowd and just went crazy and enjoyed it,” added the Spaniard, who mistakenly tossed his club into the water during the celebrations.

Cabrera Bello finished the tournament tied for fourth on six under par, four shots behind winner Kim Si-woo and his best finish on the PGA Tour this season.

“I just kept fighting, something I always try to do,” he said. “You never know what can happen. Today was proof of it.”
