Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions declined by 2.2 per cent during the time the Carbon Tax was in place.
The electricity sector - Australia's largest contributor to emissions - saw a 9.7 per cent drop in emissions during Australia's two year Carbon Tax period.
The federal government’s latest data was published just before Christmas, after the Lima Climate talks had concluded.
The decline in 2012-2014 may be part of a continuing trend of falling emissions since June 2009.
Just prior to the Carbon Tax’s was repeal in July this year, Mr Hunt said the Carbon Tax "simply doesn't work".
Just after the Carbon Tax’s repeal, Prime Minister Tony Abbott said the Carbon Tax did not help the environment.
“A useless, destructive tax which damaged jobs, which hurt families' cost of living and which didn't actually help the environment is finally gone,” Mr Abbott said.
SBS has approached Mr Hunt's office for comment.
