Carnegie builds battery storage system

West Australian renewables company Carnegie Wave Energy says its partner has built a new battery storage system which aims to deliver power in NZ.

Carnegie Wave Energy says its partner has built and installed a new battery storage system as part of a plan to deliver power to the grid in New Zealand.

Energy Made Clean (EMC), which is 35 per cent owned by West Australian wave energy technology developer Carnegie, aims to deliver New Zealand's first grid-connected commercial lithium battery energy storage system in Alpine Energy's facilities in New Zealand's south island.

The battery storage project is part of a trial which is looking to prove the financial and technical case for distributed battery storage in remote parts of New Zealand.
