Carrusca re-signs with Adelaide United

Argentinian midfielder Marcelo Carrusa has re-signed with Adelaide United, rejecting bids from other A-League clubs.

Argentine ace Marcelo Carrusca has rejected bids from rival A-League clubs and re-signed with Adelaide United.

The creative midfielder has signed a one-year contract extension with Reds, citing Adelaide's new playing style as a factor in his decision.

"My family is very happy here," Carrusca said in a statement.

"One other reason is now what we are doing on the pitch with the style of play ... we have one style and we are working very hard every day on the pitch to learn this style.

"I love the way that we now want to play and for that I want to stay."

Carrusca, arguably Adelaide's most important player, has been a key factor in the Reds' resurgence this season.

After winning just one of their initial nine games, Adelaide have charged to third spot on the ladder with only one loss from their past 10 outings.

The 30-year-old rejected Adelaide's initial offer before the club pitched him a revised deal.

"He is an important player in our team and also a very good person," Adelaide coach Josep Gombau said in a statement.

"It's important to keep as many players together as we can and maybe we can add just one or two new players for next season, so we will not have so much work to do to introduce the style to a new group of players.

"With a player like Marcelo this is also an important reason to keep him here as he is very comfortable now with the style. He is an exceptional talent."
