The New Zealand Breakers have added another piece to their NBL roster jigsaw for next season by signing Australian guard Rhys Carter on a one-year deal.
Carter, 30, brings a vast array of experience from leagues around the world, including stints in Europe.
He played alongside Tall Blacks captain Mika Vukona in the South Dragons' NBL title-winning season in 2009, and has also turned out for the Perth Wildcats and Adelaide 36ers.
Breakers coach Dean Vickerman has no doubt he has got the right player, saying the three-times champions were looking for a versatile player capable of playing point guard as well as being a threat from the perimeter.
"Rhys fits that description, he is experienced and at 30 years old he has been a pro for 10 years and has been on very good teams," Vickerman said.
Carter's role may initially be off the bench, playing behind returning former MVP Cedric Jackson, but Vickerman says he has the ability to change that thinking and pressure other players.
