The case of Johnny Depp's dogs is due to return to a Gold Coast court, where it's expected to once again proceed without defendant Amber Heard.

Depp's 29-year-old wife is charged with breaching Australia's quarantine laws after allegedly failing to declare the entry by private jet of Yorkshire terriers Pistol and Boo.

Heard has since vowed never to return to the country and has been absent for all three mentions of her case in the Southport Magistrates Court.

The last hearing three weeks ago was adjourned so Heard's barrister Paula Morreau could seek instructions from her high-profile client.
