A young girl who survived the Dreamworld ride tragedy is blaming herself for her mother's death, as money floods into a support fund.
Family friend Sandra Brookfield has spoken of the 12-year-old's torment after insisting she and her mum Kate Goodchild take a spin on the Thunder River Rapids Ride.
The Canberra mother-of-two died in her husband's arms after two rafts collided on Tuesday, flipping one carrying six people.
Her 12-year-old daughter witnessed the horrifying scene.
Mrs Goodchild's brother Luke Dorsett, his partner Roozi Araghi, and Sydney woman Cindy Low also died.
The Goodchild girl, and Ms Low's son, 10, survived when they were thrown clear.
Ms Brookfield has started a MyCause fund to raise money for Mrs Goodchild's husband and two daughters. Her youngest child is just eight months old.
On Friday, the tally was mounting quickly.
In under an hour, it climbed by more than $5000, to $18,400, and was approaching $21,000.
Ms Brookfield said the 12-year-old was plagued by anguish after convincing her mum, uncle and his partner to go on the ride.
"She's blaming herself because she wanted to go on the ride - they didn't and she insisted. It will be a long road to healing," she told The Gold Coast Bulletin.
She said the Canberra-based family had gone to the Gold Coast for a wedding, and said Kate and Luke's mother, Kim Dorsett, was meant to go with them, but didn't.
She is now grieving the loss of two of her three adult children.
"She got the call not long after it happened from a family member, who just said to her 'Katie and Luke are dead. They have drowned at Dreamworld and they're dead'," Ms Brookfield said.
"It's just been terribly hard - everyone is still in shock."
