Castrogiovanni to miss Ireland clash

Italy prop Martin Castrogiovanni has received a two-week ban for stamping and will miss the Six Nations clash with Ireland.

Italy prop Martin Castrogiovanni will miss the visit to Ireland in Six Nations rugby next week after being suspended for two weeks for stamping.

At a disciplinary hearing on Wednesday, Castrogiovanni admitted and regretted stamping on Duncan Taylor during Italy's 36-20 loss to Scotland in Rome last weekend.

A Six Nations disciplinary committee decided the 118-cap tighthead should have received a red card, but his foul was at the lower end of World Rugby sanctions, and suspended him to March 13, a day after the match in Dublin.
