Cat cleared for crunching AFL tackle

Geelong's Lincoln McCarthy is in the clear for the tackle that concussed North Melbourne captain Andrew Swallow.

The AFL match review panel has cleared Geelong's Lincoln McCarthy of the tackle that concussed North Melbourne captain Andrew Swallow.

The star Kangaroos midfielder is in some doubt for Friday night's blockbuster against Hawthorn.

Swallow came off immediately after the first-quarter incident on Saturday night and did not return.

North suffered a succession of injuries during the match and eventually Geelong won by 31 points.

The panel judged that the tackle was one continuous motion, it was not unreasonable and added it was an accident that Swallow's head hit the ground.

Carlton forward Levi Casboult was charged with rough conduct for the second-straight week, meaning a $1500 fine.

He was fined $1000 last week for an incident with Brisbane's Mitch Robinson and this time is out of pocket for rough conduct against St Kilda defender Shane Savage.

It means if Casboult is charged with another low-level incident for the rest of this season, he receives an automatic one-game suspension.

Adelaide captain Taylor Walker was charged with striking West Coast's Luke Shuey in the second quarter of Adelaide's Saturday night victory.

Walker's blow was categorised as careless conduct with low impact and he can accept a $1000 sanction with an early guilty plea.

Fremantle ruckman Zac Clarke (striking) and North Melbourne defender Scott Thompson (striking) can also accept $1000 fines.
