Catalans go second after crushing Hull KR

Willie Mason had an enjoyable return to Hull KR, the former NRL prop scoring a try against his former club in Catalans Dragons' 40-0 Super League win.

Catalans Dragons crushed Hull KR 40-0 to climb to second on the Super League ladder, the French outfit gathering momentum with a fifth straight win.

The Dragons won on the road for the third consecutive game, Rovers experiencing another nightmare home in what was their first game back at KC Lightstream Stadium since conceding four tries in the final quarter of their Good Friday derby against Hull FC.

They started this game in the same manner - the first set ending with Jodie Broughton touching down in the corner.

It went from bad to worse for the home side, the restart going out on the full and from resulting penalty Vincent Duport scored in the opposite corner for a 10-0 lead.

From there, after a brief resurgence from Rovers, it was all one-way traffic - Broughton grabbing a second before Krisnan Inu jumped higher than Kieran Dixon to score the French side's fourth try.

The only thing missing from the Dragons game was a try for Willie Mason, who was making his first appearance back in Hull since his brief spell with Rovers ended with an acrimonious departure in 2010.

It duly came in the 55th minute when he carried three defenders over the line for the final try of the game.
