St Helens will play surprise semi-finalists Catalan Dragons for a place in the 2014 Super League Grand Final, with reigning champions Wigan taking on Warrington in the other last-four clash.
Saints chairman Eamonn McManus predictably chose the French team as his side's opponents under the controversial ClubCall system.
That tie will take place at Langtree Park next Thursday, with the Warriors and Wolves meeting at the DW Stadium 24 hours later in a repeat of the 2013 Grand Final.
"The choice was between two great sides," McManus told Sky Sports. "There was a lot to take into consideration - there was current form, league position and injuries - and it was genuinely a difficult decision.
"A lot of thought and analysis went into it but, after speaking to coaching staff and senior players, we have chosen Warrington to play Wigan.
"They enjoy each other's company and we don't want to deprive them of that."
The Saints-Catalan tie will rekindle memories of the Dragons' 34-32 win at Langtree Park in 2012 when winger Daryl Millard finishing off a sparkling handling move to score a last-minute try that tied the scores and Scott Dureau kept his nerve to land the touchline conversion.
Catalan coach Laurent Frayssinous said: "I don't mind the opposition, it's about us."
