Cats Ablett and Dangerfield no certainties

Geelong captain Joel Selwood says Gary Ablett is ahead of fellow injured Cat Patrick Dangerfield in their race to be fit for their AFL opener against Melbourne.

Geelong skipper Joel Selwood says injured dynamic duo Patrick Dangerfield and Gary Ablett still have a way to go to prove their fitness for their opening AFL clash with Melbourne.

The superstar midfielders are both struggling to overcome hamstring issues to take on the Demons on Sunday week at the MCG.

Selwood said Ablett trained on Wednesday and was tracking ahead of Dangerfield, who suffered his injury late in the first quarter of Sunday's trial match against Essendon in Colac.
