Positive scans on Joel Selwood's badly swollen hands mean the Cats captain is unlikely to miss any AFL matches.

Geelong skipper Joel Selwood has been cleared of a broken hand and is set to play against Sydney this weekend.

The inspirational Cats captain played the second half of the round six meeting with Collingwood with a swollen hand, earning 26 disposals in a strong display.

There was speculation Selwood had fractured a bone in his hand and would spend time in the stands.

But scans on the weekend have given Selwood the green light to line up in round seven.

"I've got the scans back and all has come up well," Selwood said on Geelong's website.

"There's no fracture in there, and I've just got to work away at getting it better now.

"[I'll] work away with the medical staff and just get the swelling out of it, but I'll be fine to go this Saturday night."

Geelong were demolished on their trip to the harbour city last year, losing to the Swans by 110 points at the SCG.

The Swans host them at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night.
