Geelong coach Chris Scott says the AFL club are yet to determine the extent of injuries suffered by James Kelly and Rhys Stanley in round 11.
Kelly (ankle) and Stanley (foot) were both hurt in the Cats' 23-point win on Friday night over Port Adelaide.
Scott, speaking to Seven's Game Day, noted the club were still assessing both setbacks.
"We're a few days away from determining just how many (weeks Kelly will be out for)," he said.
"I always get a really broad range with these things, so something between two and eight weeks is the prognosis."
Kelly has had an unlucky run in 2015, having missed rounds six and seven due to a ruptured testicle.
Stanley has been a revelation for the Cats after departing St Kilda during last year's trade period.
Scott was unsure when the agile ruckman, who was one of the Cats' best in their upset win over Port, would be fit enough to get back on the park.
"Mitch Duncan hurt a foot a few weeks ago and the doctors knew straight away that was a big problem and he was going to miss months," he said.
"They're still not sure with Rhys, so we think that's a little bit more positive.
"But he couldn't play on, so that's never a great sign."
The return of Mitch Clark, after missing two games with a calf issue, would help cover Stanley's potential absence.
Scott suggested Clark was a chance of taking on Melbourne next Sunday, but the Cats would take a conservative approach.
"We won't do anything to risk his long-term future with us," he said.
"If he doesn't play this week, we've got the bye the following week and he'd certainly be available after that."
