Cause of chemical poisoning unclear: expert

An Australian doctor and expert on managing victims of mass chemical poisoning says it is highly likely such an event did take place in Syria last week.

But Canberra-based Dr David Caldicott says it's far from certain the poisoning was the result of chemical weapons' use by the Syrian government.

Shortly after the alleged attack occurred, Syrian activists posted dramatic footage on the internet showing people convulsing and frothing at the mouth.

Dr Caldicott tells Kerri Worthington there could be a number of explanations.
