Cavs continue their NBA roll with win

Cleveland continue to enjoy a great NBA run, this time downing Detroit.

Kevin Love had the hot hand on Tuesday as the surging Cleveland Cavaliers made it 17 wins from the last 19 games in the NBA.

Love fired in a career-high-tying eight three-pointers en route to 24 points ensuring the visiting Cavaliers rallied past the Detroit Pistons 102-93.

"You just have to have a good rhythm and I had that tonight, at least from the outside" said Love, who hit eight-of-14 shots.

"It's definitely recognition and knowing where the hot hand is. We have guys that will find you and continue to exhaust that option until you might slow down a little but tonight I felt I was that guy."

LeBron James had 19 points and 11 assists but committed a season-high nine turnovers for Cleveland (36-22), while fellow All-Star Kyrie Irving netted 18.

James achieved a milestone by breaking Scottie Pippen's NBA-record for most career assists.

"I've always taken a lot of pride and get more of a rush seeing my teammate success more than myself," said James, whose 6,142 assists is seven more than Pippen's.

"That's what an assist is all about being able to create opportunities for your teammates. That's a big thing for me."

For the Pistons Reggie Jackson had 22 points, nine assists and eight rebounds, while Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 21 for Detroit (22-35) who held to a mere 31 second-half points.

Elsewhere Golden State Warriors edged Washington Wizards 114-107 with Stephen Curry dropping in a game-high 32 points following a one-game absence with a sore foot.

Fellow-All-Star Klay Thompson added 17, and the league-best Warriors (44-10) trimmed the hosting Wizards for their fifth win in six games.

Paul Pierce tallied 25 points, Polish-native Marcin Gortat had 16 and 11 rebounds, while John Wall also netted 16 with 11 assists for Washington (33-24), who shot 53 per cent but committed a season-high 26 turnovers in its fourth straight loss.

Oklahoma City Thunder had a comfortable 105-92 win over Indiana Pacers with Russell Westbrook claiming 20 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for his third triple-double of the season, and the Thunder rolled to their seventh straight victory.

Serge Ibaka had 23 points and 10 rebounds 15 for Oklahoma City (32-25), winners of three in row without league MVP Kevin Durant, recovering after having a screw replaced on his surgically-repaired right foot on Sunday.

CJ Miles scored 21 points for Indiana (23-34) who had their three-game success stopped.

In the other day's game Dallas Mavericks came home strongly to beat Toronto Raptors 99-92.
