Seven West Media's Western Australia CEO, John Driscoll, has stepped down after deciding against taking on an expanded role for family reasons.
Mr Driscoll decided to leave his post after discussions with Seven West chairman Kerry Stokes about new duties that would have required extensive travel, Seven West Media announced on Friday.
In a statement Seven West Media said Mr Driscoll had decided that, for family reasons, he could not take on the additional responsibilities and so would step down.
"Mr Stokes reluctantly accepted Mr Driscoll's decision to step down, on the understanding that this would not preclude Mr Driscoll and Mr Stokes from working together in the future," the company's statement said.
A new CEO for the WA business will be announced early next week.
Mr Driscoll took up the WA CEO post in June, 2017, joining from Perth communications agency Marketforce, where he had been chairman and CEO.
Mr Stokes thanked Mr Driscoll for his service, saying he had made a number of important changes at the company's newspapers.
