The head of electronics retailer JB Hi-Fi took home $4 million in his final year due to a generous retirement payment.

Terry Smart stepped down as chief executive on June 30 after four years in the role, and 14 years with the ever expanding retailer.

He was paid a retirement bonus of almost $1.3 million in the 2013/14 financial year, on top of a $1.66 million salary and almost $1 million cash bonus.

A further $101,000 in share based payments took his total remuneration to $4.1 million, up from $3 million in the previous year.

The company's profit grew by 10 per cent in 2013/14 to $128 million, while its share price rose by almost 12 per cent.

Several other top companies also released details of their executive pay on Friday.

The boss of biopharmaceutical group CSL, Paul Perreault, took home $US3.8 million in cash in his first year as chief executive, a rise from the $US2.2 million he was paid in the previous year as head of one of the company's main plasma businesses.

Crown Resorts chief executive Rowen Craigie took home almost $4 million in cash, with a salary of $2.98 million and an $800,000 bonus, both unchanged from the previous year.

Chairman James Packer, who holds a 50 per cent stake in Crown Resorts, is not paid a salary by the casino operator.
