CFMEU's NSW boss steps aside

Brian Parker has stepped aside as CFMEU NSW secretary ahead of fresh hearings into the construction body at the unions royal commission.

The NSW secretary of construction union the CFMEU has stepped aside ahead of fresh hearings at the unions royal commission.

Brian Parker maintains he has done nothing wrong but has stepped aside in order to focus on matters at the commission, the union says in a statement.

Mr Parker is listed to appear at new hearings into the union set to commence on Wednesday afternoon.

Counsel assisting the commission, Jeremy Stoljar SC, has already recommended a perjury charge be considered against Mr Parker after a first run of hearings in 2014.

The union will decide on Thursday who will act as secretary in Mr Parker's absence.
