For a man who can't buy a US PGA Tour victory, Greg Chalmers has no problem winning golf tournaments in Australia.
On Sunday the 41-year-old left-hander came out victorious over world No.3 Adam Scott in a marathon seven-hole playoff at the Australian PGA Championship.
Starting the day not even in title considerations, Chalmers reeled off a tournament-low final round of eight-under-par 64 before taking down one of the world's best in a thrilling finale.
It was Chalmer's fourth Australian major to go with his 2011 PGA Championship and Australian Open titles and the Open crown again in 1998.
But despite featuring in dozens of events on the US PGA Tour since his first appearance in 1998, Chalmers has zero wins to his name.
The West Australian knows it's all in his head, and is determined to make things change in 2015.
"One of my weaknesses, if you want to get into it, is that when I play in the States I don't play to win," he said.
"I've been doing it a long time but I still experience 'oh I'd just like to do well'. When I come here I come here to win the golf tournament - really focused on that.
"Because of that I finished fourth at the Australian Open and a victory here. That's an attitude that needs to change.
"Every single golfer has a challenge and that's my biggest challenge, trying to take this kind of attitude over there."
Sunday's win not only delivered Chalmers the Joe Kirkwood Cup for the second time but it ensured he's the PGA Tour of Australasia's order of merit winner as well.
That is a crucial title for Chalmers as he aims to regain his full US PGA Tour status next year.
"That'll help me an awful lot," he said.
"I need all the help I can get next year so just the fact that I'm going to get three extra events in a year when I'm probably only going to get 15 anyway off my category is very exciting."
