Chambers to lead Storm at Auckland Nines

Queensland flyer Will Chamber will captain a young Melbourne Storm squad at next weekend's Auckland Nines.

Queensland State of Origin flyer Will Chambers will lead a young Melbourne Storm squad at next weekend's Auckland Nines.

With Melbourne's Four Nations stars not considered, Chambers, Travis Robinson and forward Dayne Weston will be the most experienced members of a squad that has an average age of 22.

"I'm looking forward to it a lot," Chambers said.

"It's obviously an exciting style of footy.

"(And) we've got some talented young kids coming through."

Craig Bellamy will be in Auckland but his assistant Adam O'Brien will officially hold the Storm's coaching reins at the Nines.

The 18-strong squad also features new recruit Shaun Nona as well as under-20 graduates Nelson Asofa-Solomona and Suliasi Vunivalu.

Melbourne will face the Cowboys, Panthers and Rabbitohs in the pool stage.

Storm's Nines squad: Young Tonumaipea, Kenny Bromwich, Will Chambers (capt), Kurt Mann, Richie Kennar, Dayne Weston, Cameron Munster, Hymel Hunt, Tim Glasby, Marika Koroibete, Travis Robinson, Christian Welch, Ben Hampton, Billy Brittain, Francis Tualau, Nelson Asofa-Solomona, Suliasi Vunivalu, Shaun Nona.
