More than a quarter of Australian adults were obese in 2011-12, the Australian Bureau of Statistics Australian Health Survey says.
Just 35 per cent of Australian adults fell into the "normal" weight range, with a body mass index of 18.5 - 24.99.
Ulu Tuipulotu is thought to be the heaviest young Australian, weighing 4 times the average adult.
Experts say he's not alone in the Pacific Island community, where rates of obesity are extraordinarily high.
Mr Tuipulotu is so overweight his life is in danger.
He spends about 12 hours a day on computer games, and eats just as much as the average family.
“Breakfast, I'd probably pump a whole loaf of bread with milo for lunch probably a whole chicken, said Mr Tuipulotu.
The 26 year old weighs almost 340 kilograms and said his entire family have problems with their weight.
“That's just my people in general Tongans just we love food,” he said.
Obesity rates in Pacific Island communities are among the highest in the world according to Associate Professor Stephen Corbett from the Centre for Population Health.
“In some surveys up to 88 per cent of people are either overweight or obese”, he told SBS.
