The Australian government is moving to stamp out corruption and organised crime infiltrating its borders following the release of the Customs Reform Board's recommendations.
The board was established in December after a two-year investigation into narcotics imports led to the arrest of eight people.
They included two customs officers and a Commonwealth official.
Thea Cowie reports the government plans to implement a wide range of measures to crack down on the illegal activities.
