Changes to Victoria's solar rebate scheme

High demand for the Victorian government's solar panel rebate scheme has forced changes to how people can register for the program.

Too many people signed up for Victoria's solar panel rebate scheme, forcing the state government to change the way households register for the program.

A fixed number of rebates will be available on a monthly basis and applied for by retailers, instead of putting the onus on the customer, the government announced on Tuesday.

The $1.3 billion program to roll out solar panels, batteries and hot water systems will restart from July 1.
