Geelong AFL star Paul Chapman is set to resume in the reserves after overcoming a hamstring injury.

Geelong's triple-premiership player Paul Chapman is set to resume in the reserves after overcoming a hamstring injury which has kept him out of action in the AFL since round four.

The 31-year-old former club champion broke down following second-placed Geelong's win over Sydney on April 19.

Club physio Mike Snelling told the Cats' website on Tuesday the two-time All-Australian was on track to play for Geelong's VFL side against Collingwood at Simonds Stadium on Friday night.

"He's been able to train in the last week," Snelling said.

"He's still got this week's training to get through, and we'd anticipate that if he gets through all of that without any issues, then we should hopefully see him on the park this weekend."

Chapman's premiership teammates Corey Enright (foot) and Mathew Stokes (groin) face fitness tests ahead of Sunday's AFL clash with the 12th-placed Crows in Adelaide.

"Corey also has to go through full training this week to prepare him for this weekend, so we'll assess him later on," Snelling said.

Snelling said Stokes had chronic groin issues.

"We anticipate that he should get up for the full training session and be available this weekend," Snelling said.

Onballer Allen Christensen could miss another game with a hamstring problem.

Joel Corey and Nathan Vardy also face tests after suffering concussions.

"They've just got to sit a test that assesses their cognitive function," Snelling said.

The Cats will be without star midfielder Steve Johnson who on Tuesday accepted a one-game ban for kneeing Melbourne's Nathan Jones.
