Charges over murder of NSW homeless man

A 38-year-old man has been charged with murdering a homeless man who died after being knocked out in a brawl.

A man has been charged with the murder of a homeless man who died after being knocked out in a roadside brawl in northern NSW.

Hoani Shaune Love suffered serious head injuries after the fight outside a Tweed Heads shopping centre on September 27.

The 48-year-old grandfather died in a Gold Coast hospital three days later.

Last week Mr Love's daughter, Toni Taufale, made a desperate plea for information about her father's killer.

On Monday police arrested a 38-year-old man at a home on Lakes Drive in Tweed Heads West.

He was charged with murder and will appear at Tweed Heads Local Court on Tuesday.

Police said Mr Love was well known in the Tweed Heads area and spent time with other homeless men in a nearby park.
