Chemical threat in Cairns resolved

A chemical threat that sparked the evacuation of homes at Mooroobool, in Cairns, has been resolved but police investigations are continuing.

A chemical threat that forced the evacuation of homes in a Cairns suburb has been resolved.

Police revoked an emergency situation warning about 6pm, three hours after it was issued when a man made threats and claimed to have highly toxic chemicals.

Officers established an exclusion zone in Mooroobool after the man told police he had cyanide.

Authorities have left the scene, but police investigations are continuing.
