The guessing game over Daly Cherry-Evans' NRL future won't go away - and it seems the Manly playmaker again only has himself to blame.
Cherry-Evans has been at his ambiguous best after once again being quizzed on whether he will honour his lucrative Gold Coast Titans four-year deal from 2016.
Under the NRL's controversial rules, the Sea Eagles have until round 13 - a fortnight away - to talk him out of travelling north by launching their own counter offer.
Just when the speculation over Cherry-Evans' Titans move appeared to have died down, the rumour mill recently found another gear after Queensland teammate and good mate Nate Myles signed with Manly from 2016.
And it appears it will now go into overdrive after Cherry-Evans did not exactly ease any Titans' concerns on the weekend.
"I guess it would be a curious situation to see what does eventuate if (Manly) do offer something," Cherry-Evans told Fox Sports.
"There is still two weeks left, so two more weeks of speculation.
"There is a rule in place which gives Manly every opportunity to do what they have to retain me."
For the record Cherry-Evans said at the moment he was standing by his Titans deal.
But it seemed he was curious to see what Manly would offer as a counter bid.
"With the decision, I have nothing to change at the moment," he said.
"I'm happy with my decision to go to the Gold Coast, and as we know there is a rule in place which allows Manly to have a go at retaining me."
Cherry-Evans admitted times had changed since he first put pen to paper with the Gold Coast.
At the time Manly had focused their efforts on re-signing Kieran Foran but after the Kiwi pivot linked with Parramatta, the Sea Eagles now look set to throw everything at Cherry-Evans staying put.
"At the time of my decision there were only two clubs I was looking at, and unfortunately Manly wasn't one of them," Cherry-Evans said.
Asked if he had lost any sleep over the "will he, won't he" speculation, Cherry-Evans said: "I don't feel bad because I've done nothing wrong.
"I'm still committed to the Gold Coast, so I've got no reason to lose any sleep at night.
In some consolation to Titans officials, Cherry-Evans is at least finding it hard to tear himself away from the Gold Coast in the Queensland State of Origin camp.
After being ruled out from Wednesday night's Origin I in Sydney with a shoulder complaint, Cherry-Evans stayed for days in the Maroons camp at Sanctuary Cove.
He was keen to offer support to his Queensland mates as they looked to reclaim the Origin crown from NSW.
