The Chiefs are bracing for a Welsh rugby backlash when the two sides clash in Hamilton.
Wales have made 15 changes to the side that lost 39-21 to the All Blacks at Eden Park on Saturday night while the Chiefs are missing 20 players either through injury or international duties.
Despite the odds being stacked against the home team at Waikato Stadium on Tuesday night, captain Stephen Donald is promising to throw the kitchen sink at the Red Dragons.
"It's a great opportunity for the other boys to stand up and we're just looking forward to it," the former All Blacks first five-eighth said.
"Wales are going to be a step up in intensity as they're one of the best teams in the world.
"They're different from the team that played the All Blacks but it's still going to be a really good side.
"A lot of our boys haven't come up against the Northern Hemisphere style before and we know they are going to be coming for us up front so we have just got to be ready for it."
Donald, who played three seasons under Warren Gatland at Waikato between 2005-2007, has a good idea of what to expect from the Wales coach.
"We're expecting more of the same from what we saw at the weekend - big physical guys playing a direct brand of footy and a very fast line speed," he said.
"Gatty will have a few trick plays up his sleeve but they will be pretty consistent with what they do and they are very good at it so we have just got to counter it."
