A family daycare provider has been raided by Australian Federal Police over suspected fraud totalling more than $3 million.

Police seized about $2.1 million cash during searches in the Albury-Wodonga area on Monday, and charged a 27-year-old woman with three counts of obtaining a financial advantage by deception.

Social services minister Scott Morrison says the charges relate to alleged rorting of the Special Child Care Benefit subsidies, which are for families going through financial troubles or children at risk of neglect.

Data matching between government departments revealed anomalies of more than $3 million in government benefit payments to the family day care provider, the government said in a statement.

A team from the multi-agency Fraud and Anti-Corruption Centre (FACC) headed up the investigation into the suspected racket.

A vehicle worth about $90,000 was also nabbed in the raids.
