Childcare rorters cut off from payments

Dozens of childcare providers who were found to have misused government payments have been cut off from them this year.

More than 140 childcare providers were cut off from federal government payments in the first nine months of this year after they were caught rorting the system.

Education Minister Dan Tehan says 155 sanctions and suspensions were imposed on 144 providers in the nine months to September,

"We have closed loopholes, stepped up inspections and are working more closely with security agencies to protect the integrity of the childcare system," he said on Tuesday.
