Chinese singer Rong "Rollin" Wang has clucked her way to viral video fame with her song "Chick Chick".
The song - featuring chicken costumes, shirtless men wearing horse heads and barnyard animals - has been viewed more than 10 million times on YouTube
"There are some who mock us. They think this is a song which seems to have no meaning. But different songs have different kinds of entertainment effects, and I think for this kind of song it can relieve pressure, make people happy, a kind of simple happiness,” Wang said.
Different works have different kinds of values and this song's value is that it's simple. All you have to do is enjoy it. You don't need to think too much."
The singer and her producer, Liu Yuanlong, were stunned by its international success, after they were told the video was posted online by an anonymous fan.
"A very big reason why the Chick Chick song is so popular in Europe and the US is because this style of music is in line with international music norms,” the producer said.
"So when foreigners listen they think this rhythm, this type of music, this type of beat is exactly the same as the music and beat of the most innovative dance music that they listen to. So that's why with this basis, when they listen to it they don't think this is a totally eastern thing, at the least in terms of the style of the song they think this is in line with the rest of the world."
Wang and her team had been working in the Korean music industry for about 10 years.
They said KPOP producers had bridged the gap between western music and eastern styles for years.
