World number one Lydia Ko of New Zealand returned a 68 but she was nine shots off the pace.
Sarah Jane Smith is the highest-placed Australian with a share of 13th-place on the leaderboard at four-under-par.
Rio Olympians Su Oh (-2) and Minjee Lee (-3) only just made the cut but Karrie Webb (+8) missed out after shooting a seven-over-par 78 in her second round.
