Cipriani stars as Sale beat London Irish

Danny Cipriani won bragging rights over friend James O'Connor after the Sale Sharks beat London Irish 15-3 in the English Premiership.

Danny Cipriani won bragging rights over friend James O'Connor after the Sale Sharks cruised to a 15-3 victory over London Irish in the English Premiership on Friday.

Out of favour with England, Cipriani - who played with O'Connor at the Melbourne Rebels - created the opening try and booted a conversion and a penalty in difficult conditions.

Cipriani's heroics gave Sale their fifth league win of the season and condemned O'Connor's Exiles to their eighth defeat of the campaign.

With the wind at their backs, Sale took a 12-0 advantage into the interval thanks to tries from Tom Brady and Dave Seymour.

Cipriani converted the first of those scores and added a penalty in the second half as the Sharks dominated.

Ian Humphreys kicked a penalty for Irish late on but it proved to be their only points of the evening as the Sharks eased to victory.
