Citizenship laws still a work in progress

Work is still under way on new laws to strip citizenship from terror suspects, with government MPs in the dark about its details.

The federal government is still working on the details of its citizenship law changes.

The coalition party room meeting on Tuesday did not consider the bill, following a decision not to bring the bill to cabinet on Monday.

Some cabinet ministers, the federal opposition and civil liberties lawyers have raised questions about handing the immigration minister the power to strip dual national terror suspects of their Australian citizenship.
