An organisation representing Aboriginal grandmothers claims the high number of Aboriginal children in out-of-home-care is creating a new Stolen Generation.
The Organisation, Grandmothers Against Removals, is demanding an investigation into the New South Wales Department of Community Services.
The group, from the town of Gunnedah, says children are taken from Aboriginal families by the Department under the guise of protection.
But they say the removals are traumatic for the children and they should be able to stay with family members.
The group's spokeswoman, Aunty Hazel, told Marina Freri, New South Wales has the highest rates of Aboriginal child removal in the country.
