Pro-PKK demonstrators took to the streets of southeast province of Cizre and clashed with police on Sunday after two people were killed in the Kurdish city of Diyarbakir.
Two protesters were killed on Saturday night in Turkey's southeast Diyarbakir province during clashes between the security forces and Kurdish activists, triggering further protests in several provinces. Tensions remained high in the area on Sunday with dozens demonstrating after the funeral of one of the protesters killed.
Turkish police fired tear gas and water cannon to disperse demonstrators throwing stones in Diyarbakir, largest city of mainly Kurdish southeast Turkey.
In another southeast province of Cizre, armed protesters attempted to take control of the road exits and stopped trucks for ID check as others hurled petrol bombs and fireworks at armoured police vehicles.
Riot police retaliated with water cannon and smoke grenades.
Clashes also broke out in Turkey's largest city of Istanbul.
