A report by a team of international researchers has mapped changes in the future migration patterns of marine species in response to climate warming.

The report, published in the journal, Nature, says some areas of the world's oceans are expected to gain species, while others will lose them.

One author of the report is Professor Carlos Duarte, director of the University of Western Australia's Oceans Institute.

He spoke with Thisanka Siripala about the significance of the findings.
