Community and environment groups are pressuring Labor to commit to tougher policies on climate change.

The Wilderness Society, Oxfam, GetUp! and Solar Citizens want Labor's national conference later this month to commit to a 50 per cent renewable energy target, and to cutting emissions by up to 80 per cent by 2030.

The groups say they're getting thousands of people to contact Labor politicians about the issue, and that they'll mount a large rally at the party's national conference.
