Liberal frontbencher Malcolm Turnbull believes his desire to curb carbon emissions to stop global warming is a "very" conservative view shared by many leaders on his side of politics.

Mr Turnbull, who lost the Liberal leadership over his support for an emissions trading scheme, says he wants to limit CO2 emissions as much as possible.

While there may be some uncertainty around the impact of global warming, Australia should take a "prudent, cautious approach" as an insurance policy, he told Network 10's Bolt Report on Sunday.
