Collingwood's 25-point Queen's Birthday win over Melbourne was a memorable one for Travis Cloke for several reasons.
He turned a remarkable first quarter into a record-equalling seven-goal haul.
And just as importantly for a player who has regularly battled the yips in front of goal, he did it without ever looking like missing.
"There have been a lot of hours put into it in the last six to 12 months and it's nice to get a little reward," said Cloke.
"Those ones I've really struggled with are the ones right in close, almost goalsquare distance.
"I don't know why but they've been the ones I've really struggled with this year so it was nice to just put them away, slot them through and get a couple of easy ones that way and get some confidence on the board."
Cloke's match-winning haul earned him the inaugural Neale Daniher trophy as the best player afield in the annual marquee clash between the Magpies and the Demons.
The award was named in honour of the former Essendon star and ex-Melbourne coach, who is fighting a public battle with motor neurone disease.
Monday's match was closely linked to the "Big Freeze at the 'G" to raise funds and awareness to aid the search for a cure to MND.
More than $2 million was raised.
The terminally ill Daniher was on hand to present Cloke with the trophy.
